For Baltic tribes swastika was sun and thunder gods sign. Swastika – one of the most frequently repeated Lithuanian folk art motifs. They were on statues, furniture, chests and even eastern eggs. Dynamics of the swastika describes it’s Lithuanian name “sūkurėlis” (vortex).

In Lithuania for many centuries, swastika was used by noble families in their blazons. In our neighbor country Latvia city of Liepaja, two meters in diameter swastika carved on a monument for Latvia’s independence struggle in 1919-1922

This photo and bug was made by our new member – Davis aka Gyvulys (The Beast), hope gods of sun and thunder will bring him some nice chubies on this bug!
